Since this is the Pastorate of St. John’s and St. Joseph’s,
Happy Feast Day of St. Joseph!
Laetare Sunday (March 22, 2020):
The weekend of March 21-22, the Church celebrates Laetare Sunday (from the Latin “to rejoice”). St. Paul reminds us that in such times as these, we are still to rejoice. And so, on the evening of Saturday, March 21, we will be posting a brief video message from Fr. Kevin at St. John’s church. This message will be found on the Facebook pages of both parishes, https://www.facebook.com/sjefrederick/ and
As we really miss you (and many of you are already experiencing cabin fever!), providing your health allows, we challenge all of our healthy parishioners to get in their car, engage their faith, and come by St. John’s from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.on Sunday, March 23. The priests and deacons of the parishes will be waving hello and offering a blessing from a safe distance on Second Street in front of St. John’s.
Sacrament of Reconciliation:
Confessions will be heard this Monday, March 23, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. at St. Joseph on Carrollton Manor for St. Joseph parishioners. On Tuesday, March 24, parishioners of St. John’s are invited to the sacrament from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at St. Joseph on Carrollton Manor, 5843 Manor Woods Road, Frederick, MD 21703 . Renovations and other practicalities at St. John’s make this necessary. Precautions will be taken so that no more than 10 people will be permitted in the building at any given time. As you enter the parking lot, you will receive instructions about parking and the appropriate time to enter the church. Your full cooperation is appreciated. Please look for other confession opportunities in next week’s communication.
Starting this coming week, we have scheduled prayer partners before the Blessed Sacrament in adoration and intercession. We will be praying for your needs and the people of the Pastorate over several hours at St. Joseph’s on Tuesdays, and at St. John’s on Wednesdays. Our staff members will join with ministry leaders in prayer. If you have a need for which you would like us to pray, please email email@example.com (St. John the Evangelist) or firstname.lastname@example.org (St. Joseph on Carrollton Manor). Please note that caution dictates that our churches will not be open to the public at the current time. We thank you for your understanding.
We continue to monitor the ongoing situation and to adapt our offerings accordingly so that we can stay connected and engaged as parish communities to the extent that safety allows. Our parish staff is seeking to remain as available as possible. Please stay tuned for more information, and above all, please take care of yourselves and family, use good judgment, and God’s peace and protection be with you all.
