Sunday, October 4, Feast of St. Francis
On the 4th of October, we usually celebrate the Feast of St. Francis with a blessing of animals. This year, we will not be able to have that blessing at Church. But we are inviting you to have that blessing at home. We would love to have pictures of you and your animal (along with your permission to post them on Facebook). Please send the pic of you and your animal(s) to Ruth at email@example.com. Happy Blessing!
Gather will friends or family, or on your own with your four-footed companion (or two-footed in the case of birds) and pray.
BLESSING OF ANIMALS
In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
“Blessed are you, Lord God, maker of all living creatures.
You called forth fish in the sea, birds in the air, and animals on the land.
You inspired Saint Francis to call all of them his brothers and sisters.
We ask you to bless this pet (these pets).
By the power of your love, enable it (them) to live according to your plan.
May we always praise you for all your beauty in creation.
Blessed are you, Lord our God, in all your creatures! Amen.”
Take the Holy Water you have at home and sprinkle your animal (be careful if you have a cat!)
