Volunteers needed. Lead the children during Mass to the classrooms, proclaim the Sunday readings and give a scripted homily designed for children ages 4-10. The children are brought back to Mass during the collection. You will back in time for the second part of the Mass! Contact The Parish Office for details.
Children, ages 4-10, are invited to leave the assembly after receiving a blessing from the priest at Mass and gather in their own worship area to hear the Word of God at their own level of understanding. Parents are always welcome to attend.
Our teachers use the Weekend Children’s Lectionary to focus on the readings with prayer, reflection, discussion questions, and activities so your children grow in their relationship with God. They return to the Mass assembly during the Offertory hymn.
The Sunday program is very popular. Because of the numbers, we split the group into two smaller groups in order for the children to get the most out of their experience. We are in need of leaders and assistants. Ideally, we would like to have teams of four rotate duties on a monthly basis. Easy-to-follow lessons are sent electronically to all leaders every two months. Once a volunteer has gone through the STAND/Shield the Vulnerable training and has ‘shadowed’ as many sessions as they feel needed, they can sign up for as many or as few weeks as they’d like. Teens are eligible to be assistants and they earn service hours for it.
The Archdiocese of Baltimore and St. Joseph-on-Carrollton Manor are committed to providing everyone, especially our children and youth, with a safe and healthy environment. Learn more on our STAND page.
